I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. I try to figure out what works best for every individual and help them focus on their strength and improve their weaknesses.
My teaching style depends on the student. I am comfortable with trying different study methods in order to figure out why my student is having trouble with a particular subject.

While earning my undergraduate degree in Physics, I took advantage of a work-study opportunity at Franklin and Marshall and became a Physics and Chemistry Tutor for the introductory classes. In addition to tutoring science students at college, I also was the TA for a class that explored the role of racism in America's history titled "America in Black and White". Since earning my M.S. from Georgetown University, I have been an adjunct lecturer of Physics and Astronomy at Queensborough Community College and an adjunct lecturer of Chemistry at Dowling College. I like to use the hands on approach. I find out what the weaknesses are of my students and address the topics by giving a general review. I present a problem for them to work out. After a few minutes, I ask them what they think is the best way to approach the problem. If they cannot come up with one, I then guide them through the appropriate thinking pattern in order for them to solve the problem. For me repetition of different related problems is the key to success.
