I am a true constructivist. I believe that students need to construct their own understanding if they are to achieve mastery. When it comes to math, many kids can repeat the motions and get the right answer, but may not really understand what they are doing or why. I actually love the question, "When am I ever going to use this?" I know how math is applied to every day life, and without true understanding of the underlying concepts, students will not know when, where, or how to apply the operations they have learned. I give my students a strong basis of understanding before we move into the operations, so the knowledge is true, not rote.

I taught school for four (4) years to ages kindergarten - seventh grade. I also tutored inner city children ages 5-12 for two (2) years. For the last eight (8) years I have been tutoring ages kindergarten- third grade. I took courses in psychology and children. I have a J.D. Degree, Masters Degree and Bachelor of Arts Degree. Education in my life has been my number one motivating factor for success. Throughout my educational career I have always been organized and a group leader when it came to helping my fellow students with projects/homework/studying, etc. For many years I tutored individuals in English, Math, Social Studies/History, German, Psychology and Arts.
