That is why I joined Bridge to Success Program on January 2001. BTS was a program, sponsored by Roger Williams University at the time, which focused in assisting and encouraging students from low income families as well as minorities. I served as a mentor for five years in the program. I helped a number of students go into college and helped them improved their grades in math and science. Thorough my dedication and commitment, I was awarded the mentor of the year award in 2004. It has been by far one of the most honorable acknowledgments I have received.

I strive to design experiences for students to step through to shatter their preconceived notions about math and the physical universe, and get them to understand underlying relationships. I work so that students see themselves as problem solvers through techniques involving the use of their developing understanding of concepts with memorable models. I like to exploit the visualization of physics and calculus concepts available on – line and to use web – based simulators.
I believe that I am in a unique position to help your students learn both physics and math. The experiences that I have had teaching various math courses and physics, I think, allow me to frame lessons that address the subjects in a way that dovetails with students’ previous knowledge, and asks and answers the essential questions that the math or physics curriculum should involve.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the UConn with a B.S. in physics and a minor in mathematics. Because I have used calculus and linear algebra on a daily basis as a means of solving problems I have developed a fundamental understanding of mathematics; an understanding that only someone who has used thse mathematical tools extensively can achieve. I have been tutoring for the past four years. I began tutoring at UConn my junior year and was quickly the most popular physics and calculus tutor on my shift. On several occasions I taught groups of ten or so as a class. It was then that I realized how much I liked teaching. Since I have graduated I have tutored at Sylvan Learning Center and Total Academic Center tutoring various subjects and age groups.
