As a former active duty Army soldier and non-commissioned officer with over 20 years experience, I have taught and trained military personnel in various technical fields and specialty areas. I have over 15 years experience as an immediate supervisor and/or mid-level manager of soldiers. I have taught people in a classroom environment, as well as in an outdoor setting. My preferred teaching style is up front and personal with students. However, I am highly familiar with "online" correspondence, via the computer or internet. I totally believe in having thorough knowledge of the required subject prior to teaching. I also enjoy working with children. I am a father of two young children (ages 10 months and 7 years), and I enjoy taking the time to cultivate their ability to read and comprehend.

I assess each person's level of understanding to determine the best way to help them learn. Some people can learn visually, some learn better with hands on teaching, verbal instructions work for some and others may need a combination of one or more to grasp the concept of the lesson. One of the most important parts of being a teacher is being able to listen to your students and not judge anyone by their background, race, color, religion, culture or creed. You must always treat others the way you want to be treated, no matter what. During my years in the corporate world, I have trained customers with Basic, Intermediate & Advanced skills in using computers. I have also mentored and lead fellow co-workers and customers with improving their technical skills at work and at home. I have been at Fccj for a little over two years. I have studied and mastered a variety of subjects. I am starting JU next summer to earn my BSN. I currently have my AA degree in nursing.I've spent a lot of time in the student life and leadership department that works one on one with students to help them with college success. I would say that my teaching style varies depending onthe person I am teaching. There are several ways that people respond to in order for them to understand. I thik that everyone has a unique teaching style but still needs to be flexible in order to help the student understand.

After graduating with an Associate’s Degree in information technology, I was hired by the Ministry of Education, Grenada, to teach mathematics and information technology at a local high school, grades 8 through 12. After teaching at all grade levels, for two years at said high school, I resigned to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, where I tutored athletes at the university for 1 year. While at the university I double majored in Mechanical Engineering and Computer science and have thus gained significant knowledge and experience in computer programming, mathematics, and engineering principles.
