Government is one of my top subjects!

I enjoy teaching any age student, but more than that I get satisfaction when that student attains their goal. I believe in using the Socratic method of teaching and allowing the student to get their own answers rather than just telling them. I seek to develop and foster great students who will attain excellent careers. This method can be adapted to fit any student of any age.
I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. Making Learning Fun and Easy!

I have a bachelors degree in Economics with a concentration in mathematics. I have been tutoring all of my life. I've tutored children, college students, and adults. I've tutored mathematics, grammar, reading, writing, and the military entrance exam. I tutor all levels of mathematics up through Calculus. I would love to help you learn and understand at your own pace.
My teaching style is to move at the students pace - however slowly or quickly that may be. I don't mind being asked the same questions. In fact, I believe that there is no such thing as a bad question, and that a student should ask a question as many times as s/he feels it is necessary to do so.

A Little Bit About Me...

For over four years, I have been involved in private tutoring as well as teaching classes available to the public. I have a passion for teaching and enjoy helping others succeed. While completing my Bachelors in Business Administration, I developed a firm understanding and passion for economics, finance, and accounting. My work experience, in banking and in organizational management, has provided me with opportunity to apply this knowledge in real life situations.
I enjoy teaching and working with children and adults. My first experience in education was with children's music classes, and have since enjoyed the opportunity to teach adults at the community college level. I would describe my style as adaptive. In my experience every child and adult requires somewhat of a different approach. After careful evaluation, a course is developed to meet the students needs. With that ... read more

The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his prepositions. We made up a song that included them all, in order. It turned out to something like this....ABOARD a ship AS we were traveling ABOUT eight knots, etc. This style was very effective for memorizing. For subjects that require more understanding than memorizing, I prefer my "teach and try" method. This means that I go through multiple problems with a student explaining the steps involved. Then, I set-up a mock test to test their abilities solo. I therefore can grasp their understanding and pinpoint their weaknesses.
I have recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Genetics. During college, I taught/tutored 7th graders at a local middle school in the areas of math and s ... read more

I began tutoring formally in high school for sibling's friends who needed assistance in all subjects. When the opportunity arose to help my alma mater, I took the change to teach debate, public speaking, political science, and advise college level students. I've tutored students in English as I was former major in college as well as nearly every social science subject you can think of. I've also taught multiple sections of study skills courses.
Both of my parents were teachers so it is in my blood. I am a firm believer in finding the right way to convey information to anyone, especially your student. My goal was always to confer the desire to learn no matter the subject. I remember the teachers who were passionate for their subjects and seek to emulate their expertise as much as possible in an environment that holds that students can learn pretty much anything they put their mind ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I really enjoy working with students. My teaching philosophy is that all children can learn. I subscribe to the constructivism approach to teaching. This is where students scaffold their own knowledge from other experiences. I believe that if you can get a student interested in something they are more likely to enjoy what they are learning about and are more likely to be successful. I am cheerful, kind and enthusiastic which I also feel help encourage students to be successful learners.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach and share knowledge with others. While I have never formally been a tutor before, I have been a mentor, coach and teacher within the various organizations where I have worked and have always been known as the person to go to with questions because I will always take the time to explain things in a way that makes them easy to grasp. I am down to earth and easy to talk to. I love children, and young adults and their passion for living and learning and I love to find interesting ways to explain complex theories and problems. I know that each person learns differently and I strive to find which methods work best. I am patient yet believe in challenging students to keep their interest and build self-esteem.

While studying elementary education at UNCG, part of my requirements were to complete a semester interning in an elementary school setting under the supervision of a teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Journalism, I was a staff reporter at a daily newspaper in High Point, NC, where I covered Guilford County's public school system and wrote feature stories. During that time, I volunteered as a tutor to a first-grade student who needed help with reading and writing. I moved to the Raleigh area and took a job with the American Kennel Club, where I supervised the staff of a call center and provided service to Spanish-speaking customers. I am currently working as a freelance writer, taking care of my son, and seeking part-time work that will allow me to put my experience and talents to use.

I am passionate about teaching. I prefer teaching foreign language through a hands-on approach. Everyone is capable of learning, we just have to find their learning style. With foreign language, I use flashcards, simple songs and interesting stories to incorporate the language. My goal is to get the student to retain the language, not just memorize it. I show my students that they can benefit in careers and life through the knowledge of a second language. If t ... read more
