In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture. Regardless of the learning style, I have learned that it is my job to make learning relevant and meaningful to students.
The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator. The teacher facilitates the students in making personal decisions as well as participates in discussions that affect society. I have a very relaxed teaching style when teaching my children at home during their homeschool, but they know if they don't do their work, they won't get far in life, and so far, of my eight children, there are four that are out of homeschool and have moved on to advanced education.
