A Little Bit About Me...

After getting my degree in Printing/Desktop Publishing/Graphic Design, I ran my own successful business for 11 years. Tutoring was my link to the creative challenge of showing people a way to enter the world of books, or create a monthly newsletter for their charity, or publish a catalog of services available to those in need. I taught reading and math skills to K-3 in a public school setting after moving cross-country for health needs. I have a background in math, grammar, phonetics, and reading. After I earned my BFA, I started working towards my Master of Art in Art History. I have an understanding of most studio art forms and extensive knowledge of Art History. A Little Bit About Me...

When tutoring I usually ask prompting questions to assist the person in working through a problem. By building off of the skills the student already has it helps them better understand the process. If a student is learning new material or does not understand the way something was explained I will try to come up with an alternative method. I will go through an example with them step by step ensuring that they understand what happens along the way. I try to relate problems to real life so that they will remember what they have learned better.
