My comments on tutoring Sociology : I have taught at the collegiate level in Sociology.

I am a Social Studies teacher in the state of Pennsylvania. I graduated from an NCATE accredited university that has a rigorous education program. In that program, I was required to teach elementary students, middle school students, high school students, college students, and adult classes. I have been teaching for three years and tutoring for five years. I have taught multiple types of learners in multiple subjects with a significant amount of success.
I am a great speaker, and I can easily relate to my students. I push my students thoroughly to reach their objectives, because I do not believe there is anyone who cannot learn a subject. I have never had a student fail on my watch, and I do not intend to ever have that happen if a student is trying. If you have the will to learn, I will see to it that you increase your grade.

Math teachers are notorious for being vague or teaching solely from text. I believe understanding mathematics does not necessarily make you fit to teach it. I have had great success adapting to a student's language and using analogies to make math come to life. It's a fact that no human likes an activity if they are not good at it, attitude is half the battle; if I can help my student to get better at math, I know they will stop disliking the subject and thereby learn more. A Little Bit About Me...

This particular position interests me because I struggled with math through middle school and understand the frustration it can create for a student. As a recent graduate from Westminster College, I have earned a BA in History and my PA teaching certificate for 7-12 in Social Studies. I have had experience in teaching grades 9-12 and tutoring students in grade 10 in subjects other than social studies such as science, math, and spanish. I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one.
