Learning can be fun!

My style is a learner centered one. I believe in guided learning, where the students make discoveries themselves while at the same time feeling supported and directed. I believe that everyone can learn, and discovering each student's style of learning while promoting confidence is very important to me.
I am currently teaching English as a second language to post-secondary international students at California State University Sacramento. I teach all areas of English, including grammar, composition, reading, and listening and speaking skills. I have taught beginning English to refugees in Sacramento, as well as English as a foreign language in Guatemala and Honduras. A Little Bit About Me...

I have owned and operating my own bookkeeping/accounting/business management service for over thirty years. I have taught others how to use QuickBooks, set up filing systems, enter data base information and organize their finances. I have supported a variety of businesses and organizations including several non-profits. I have taught others about AP, AR, Payroll, Taxes, and other financial information.
I believe in explaining the concepts first and them allow the student to do the work themselves. I am open and friendly and clients enjoy being in the teaching environment. I practice patience and believe in giving a lot of positive reinforcement. The learning experience should be enjoyable and productive and the student should leave feeling they have actually learned new skills!
