A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout the two years I was involved, I regularly helped 6 students, along with 6 students that I met with irregularly. I have experience tutoring children with behavioral issues, learning disabilities (dyslexia, ADHD, ADD), as well as students on the Autism Spectrum. I'm willing to assist in almost any subject, including elementary school Spanish, up to French 2, and ACT/SAT prep (my scores are available upon request). I'm currently a student at Western Michigan University's College of Education and Human Development, from which I'm expected to graduate with honors in 2019, my transcript is available upon request.
At our first session, I ask that each student complete a short quiz to determine their learning style (visual, auditory, kinest ... read more

My teaching style is based on patience, calmness, understanding of a person’s perspective and finding the appropriate method of explanation so that the student understands a principle and can apply it correctly. I firmly believe that everyone can understand math and develop a logical approach to problem solution, regardless of their natural inclination towards math. I want to help students meet their math goals/requirements and, hopefully, enjoy it at the same time. I am told by family and friends that I can explain almost anything.
I have a BS in Math with a History minor. I worked about 30 years for Huntington Bank, including 10 years as a main frame computer programmer/manager. My accounting background has included developing accounting systems and policy and procedures for both "start-up" business and complete change required for "turn-around" organizations. Overall, I feel that I have a strong accounting background. My experience also includes extensive financial modeling experience using MS Excel for budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
I love mentoring staff / students. I find it very rewarding when the "light bulbs" start to go off with staff / students with respect to any topic. My style involves getting to know exactly where the individual is at relating to an area of study. I believe the student should be in control of the thought and learning process. I teach as I coach, individually and with praise. Mathematics is a language, nothing more and nothing less. I teach it as a language. Learning math as a language brings tensions down and eases the students fears and inhibitions in feeling like "they should know this", no..that is not true. I ask the question...should you know how to speak French if your not from France? No? Well there is no country called mathematics so you aren't suppose to know how to speak Math, either....now are you? So...let's did in and learn this strange language they call Math.
As an undergraduate student I pursued a degree in Mathematics because I feel that math is a solid base for sound qualitative, and analytic decision making. I am now a father of (5) and a baseball coach. I am pursuing my masters in Mathematics as a continual learning lifestyle. My talents are in de-mystifying mathematical pro ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I find much fulfillment in helping someone understand statistics and mathematics. My approach is to come alongside each student and help them with each step, allowing them the opportunity to make mistakes in order that they may learn from them. I believe that stats and math can be understood by everyone as long as I can take the time to put it in their 'language'. I often found that tutoring can be a simple matter of translation, and I enjoy interpretting statistical concepts into every terms.
I graduated in 1999 with a BA in Mathematics and studied with a concentration on secondary education. After being away from math for ten years, I recently returned to school (Western Michigan University) to study for my Master's Degree in Statistics, which is my preferred field of expertise. A Little Bit About Me...

As an Engineer, I have lots of understanding of both maths and science. From my experience working as Maths tutor in Department of Mathematics in Western Michigan University, I have learned to be good listener and more responsible. I love teaching and helping others. It gives me lot of satisfaction when I solve someone's problems and see the smile on their face, that they completely understood the topic.
As I previously said I am good listener and Proactive person. After I talk to students ,I completely understand how much they understood the subject and help them to complete the missing concepts in their understanding. I love to make the things easier for understanding by breaking the problems in small parts and then explain parts by parts with example and eventually making students to solve the similar examples to measure the degree of their understanding. A Little Bit About Me...

As a civil engineering graduate, I spent a lot of time working with mathematics and achieving a higher level of education. I have always enjoyed working with kids especially in mathematics and athletic activities. I have tutored many college students as well as younger students in various subjects including math, English, biology, physics, and graphic design.
I really enjoy working with children in various subjects and activities. I believe all children have a different way of learning and can all find a way that best suites them. My teaching style is based on how the student learns best and what their interests are. I like to incorporate my excitement to teach because students tend to be more interested in learning when you are interested in who they are. I really stress hard work and fun into my lessons so that students will not only learn a lot, but remember it as well.
