Love watching children learn and grow!

I graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Elementary Education (K-6) as well as Reading Certification (K-12). I did an internship in 1st grade as well as taught some in 2nd and 3rd grade. I know that each child is different and that I must differentiate my teaching methods in order to reach all children. I love learning new and creative ways to teach content to children and trying to make learning as engaging and meaningful as possible for all.

Throughout college I tutored elementary students for a tutoring company that worked with students in an urban district in Pennsylvania. My tutoring experiences are in K-1 and grade 3. I graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2013 with a degree in elementary education. I moved to North Carolina from Pennsylvania in 2013 to pursue my career in teaching. Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects!

I have taught all aspects of literacy since 2003. This includes reading, writing, grammar, phonics, spelling, and handwriting. I was an Early Literacy teacher for two years and a Title I teacher for three years. In addition, I have taught preschool children and middle school children. My last three years of teaching directly were in a second grade classroom. I have abundant experience in assessing reading skills and abilities and determining students' reading levels.
I try to include fun in every lesson. Playing games, creating rhymes or chants to remember mechanical rules helps students to move forward in their skills. Consistency with generous praise so that students feel success creates readers.

I taught children's church for five years, while in high school and college. I attended Mt. Olive College for two years and transferred to East Carolina University to obtain a degree in Elementary Education. I received my BS in Elementary Education, as well as a certification in Reading for K-12.
