I took votech business class in high school for three years. I am advanced in all of the microsoft office applications. I also have taken two years of accounting. Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects!

I have taught all aspects of literacy since 2003. This includes reading, writing, grammar, phonics, spelling, and handwriting. I was an Early Literacy teacher for two years and a Title I teacher for three years. In addition, I have taught preschool children and middle school children. My last three years of teaching directly were in a second grade classroom. I have abundant experience in assessing reading skills and abilities and determining students' reading levels.
I try to include fun in every lesson. Playing games, creating rhymes or chants to remember mechanical rules helps students to move forward in their skills. Consistency with generous praise so that students feel success creates readers.

Most children begin learning phonics by sounding out letters and learning what items represent that sound and that letter, i.e. A is for apple; A sounds like “aaaaaaaaaaaaaa”.
