I got my first teaching experience as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics labs and fell in love with the profession. The best part of the experience is seeing the student grasp a concept that they felt out of reach. I enjoy coming up with inventive ways of communicating the difficult portions of math and science. But my desire to teach children led me to tutoring at a private non-profit school for K-12. I worked there two years before starting to work at a facility for troubled youth. This allowed me the opportunity to learn to work with various age levels as well as different nationalities. Also, I spent time working for the Las Cruces Public School System in which I was able to labor with teachers who had students with learning disabilities, plus regular elementary age kids. The simple love of learning that I exuded in the classroom setting was initially enough fuel for my fire to enjoy being in the presence of this age group. I found that allowing some sense of humor to the situation in instructing most subjects eased the pain for the children who may not have wanted to be there. All children did want to learn. My getting them together at such a young age to interact with one another and problem solve alone or together was a joy to watch. I constantly combined subjects to allow the student to make use of their initial talents. Be it in writing, speaking, the use of art or music, I wanted the student to explore each inner strength. A Little Bit About Me...

Each child is different. On a one on one setting, it would be advantageous to allow the student some freedom so that their learning style leads to maximum learning. My goal is to teach the student to love self-learning so that the student appreciates learning without a tutor or teacher present.
