A Little Bit About Me...

I attended a liberal arts college to give myself a totality of learned and a well rounded education. I majored in Music performance with a minor in math. In addition I worked in the biology labs gaining experience in the sciences. I graduated with honors ( cum Laude)
My teaching style is to guide the student to find the answers for himself rather than outright giving it away. I try to teach the method of discovery and critical thinking the allows the student to excel. I love seeing students "getting it". the approach is different with each students but the goal is the same. -helping the student suceed and growing in the learning process.

A Little Bit About Me...

In teaching I am basically a generalist and humanist. My background is in mathematics and the sciences, but with a solid foundation in the humanities. Practically, I have never stopped learning something new and in addition to my formal credential I have done university course work in languages, forestry, animal husbandry, and sports training. I believe my teaching style is one in which I help students make associations by way of discovery and interconnections. Much of mathematics can describe the natural world and I attempt to make mathematics both interesting and fund by drawing on these associations.

I received my BS in Mathematics and my MS in Industrial Mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. During my time as a graduate student, I was a teacher of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and of Calculus. I believe that in order for students to obtain knowledge, they must develop some level of interest in the subject. As a teacher, I try to understand the student's mind in order to present the material in such a way that it will fit together with the student's preexisting knowledge. If a student is passionate about sports or video games, I try and use examples and metaphors from those respective areas within the lessons.
