Hearing Impaired is one of my top subjects! I have been a classroom teacher of deaf and hearing impaired children and teens for eight years. I am able to use sign language to communicate. I can also use cued speech and oral methods.

I have been a classroom teacher and a tutor for children, teens and adults who are deaf, hearing impaired, speech/language impaired, social/emotional impaired, cognitive delay, autistic, ADHD, etc. I have also taught early childhood children from birth. I can communicate using sign language and cued speech. I have experience teaching dyslexic children, teens and adults using the Orton-Gillingham philosophy. I am Pro-Literacy certified and I am a STAR certified trainer.

During my 12 year teaching career for the Kyrene Elementary School District, I wore many hats within the special education department ranging from the classroom to administrative duties. I was trained as a district "trainer of trainers" for a phonics based decoding reading instruction program and taught within my district and surrounding districts as well. I also worked for the local community colleges as adjunct faculty teaching potential special education teachers the same type of reading program. I have extensive experience with 1:1 tutoring as well as small and large group instruction.

Throughout my undergraduate years, I knew that educating youth was something I was very passionate about so I made sure to not ignore my passion. I completed a minor in Education including such courses as: Classroom Reading, Evaluation and Measurement in Education, Core Classroom Management Strategies, Intro to Special Education, and Young Adolescence.
