A Little Bit About Me...

I am the author of five historical novels and a number of articles, poems and short stories. I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I regularly teach writing and grant writing seminars to adults, usually through libraries on weekends or in the evening.

Facilitating thinking and learning is a good descriptor of my teaching style. I listen to the students to find out their interests in order to frame their learning. I use questioning on different levels to generate connections across curriculum areas. I use different ways to present materials: oral, written, read aloud, look at questions before reading.
