Within that time I decided that teaching was for me and went on to get my degree and certificate to teach. I have completed several long-term substitute teaching positions, picking up where a teacher left off, often times unexpectedly. I have taught classes in the elementary, middle and high school.

During my tenure at Buffalo State College, I volunteered at the Equal Opportunity Program, where my main strength was utilized by actively tutoring students in the art of the english essay. I was able to tutor these students and advise them in the general format of the essay. We began by procurring a general introduction, or a statement of fact,followed by the body of the essay, descriptive references, and tying it all together with a summary that proves the point that you have set out to make. I tutored many different students, but it was apparent that most students who excelled in math and science, struggled with English writing requirements. I love opening up a child's mind to the love of the written word. The possibility of expressing one's private thoughts and experiences have the power to change lives for the better. I have always been patient and understanding with children.

I am a dual scholarship recipient and graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo. For my bachelors of science degree, I studied Biomedical Sciences/Biochemical Pharmacology and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Additionally, I mentored incoming pre-medical students academically and for career management and have taken various college level art courses. Although I am an engineer by education, I have often found myself in a teaching role of all groups of people. I have often been complimented for my tremendous patience and ability to work with others to teach them some new information or concept. I believe in "teaching and doing" where the person is shown something and then they have to do it themselves to help reinforce the concept I'm trying to teach them. As a training manager, I often taught classes to large groups of individuals on subjects such as statistics, Microsoft Office programs, and teamwork, problem solving and quality concepts. I have graduated from Canisius College with a Master degree in Education. I am currently on track to have NYS initial certification by February. My student teaching was conducted at Hamburg Middle School and Lackawanna High School in 9th grade social studies and 7th grade American history. I have extensive experience in writing through my schooling and in my work experience in journalism, which required a high degree of literacy. My teaching style is centered around student activity.
