My comments on tutoring Testing Skills : Similar to test preparation. Need to understand the student's fears.

I have been teaching in a classroom environment for ten years at the Associate, Bachelor and Master's levels. I have tutored for over fifteen years. Learning can be fun!!

I love learning and teaching alike. My first teaching experience was in high school when I helped teach inner city children how to swim. Following high school, I earned a bachelor's degree in genetics at UC Berkeley, during which time I worked as a teacher's assistant for a genetics professor. While in medical school in Hungary, I tutored Hungarians in English, and medical students in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and biophysics. My comments on tutoring Testing Skills : I have a doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology. There is a skill and a strategy to taking tests and exams. I can help build those skills and also instill the mindset and strategy necessary to be successful.

I am very aware of the necessity of adapting my teaching style to the learning modality of those I am working with. As an educator I evaluated students to define how they best process information. They may be auditory learners, visual learners or they may use a combination approaches. I am very patient and understand that everyone can learn. As a Merchant Marine and Chief Steward I have taught, tutored, or mentor kids of all ages and backgrounds. My passion when teaching is to try and breakdown the subject to it's most basic level.
