I am a passionate teacher who loves educating children of all ages by individualizing instruction. My love for teaching is my driving force behind creatively introducing new interesting ways of teaching for all children to have the opportunity to achieve academically, physically, emotionally, and socially. I have earned a degree in dance/education and a Masters in Early Childhood Education. I have taught English grades 1-8. I went to Ohio State in Art, then graduated at Ohio U. I taught 14 years in Florida and Ohio , grades 1 through 12; all subjects. I taught using primarily Art and music. My areas of expertise are Reading, Literature, English, and the arts. I have acted in Little Theatre, choreographed, and taught Drama in High School and in College. A Little Bit About Me...

I greatly enjoy teaching and developing children of all ages. As a teacher I am constantly challenged to understand each student’s individual needs and to present the material in a way that produces the most joy and therefore increases material retention. I have high expectations for all of my students and make sure they know I believe in them. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a senior in the Education program at Appalachian State University. As an Elementary Education major, I have worked closely with children from many age levels. I have participated in an after-school tutor/mentor program at Appalachian State in 2008. In 2009, I completed two internships while in the Education Program. One working with 2nd grade students and the other with 5th grade students. I have also taken many courses to understand context and teaching strategies in all subject areas.
I believe that children must be engaged in the subject matter before successful learning takes place. Finding fun, interesting, and personal ways for the child to connect to the topic will truly allow them a chance to learn and retain information. I love finding different ways for individual learners to understand what they are being taught.
