As an educator, my understanding and approach to learning comes from placing myself in the perspective of the student. Therefore, student's opinion on coursework needs to be heard in order to create effective learning goals. I believe this will increase a student's motivation and connection to the material. Connections, which are endless and create concrete understanding for students. I am very passionate, easy going and understanding of students. Although, I set the highest expectations because I believe the student can achieve them. Each student can succeed and they will.

More About This Tutor...

I recently graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelors in Science. My major was public health and I minored in biology and psychology. Throughout my college career, I have participated in many community service clubs and worked at a tutoring center where I helped college students with their weekly writing assignments. It was my responsibility to help them with their grammar, writing topics, and reading comprehension. I was able to help them grow into stronger and more creative writers.
I enjoy tutoring students and seeing them succeed. When they do well, it makes me feel like I have succeeded too. I believe teaching is very rewarding and it is important to take time and be cooperative with students in order to help them.

The most important qualities of outstanding educators are experience, creativity, and patience. Each quality needs to be developed or tested by time in order to increase in its overall effectiveness. Teachers who can consistently employ all three qualities throughout their careers will be successful educators. It will take a lot of effort and hard work as an educator to successfully integrate the qualities of experience, creativity, and patience into their teaching styles. The effort and hard work will result in the development and establishment of those important qualities within teachers. In turn, the qualities will help those outstanding teachers to continue working hard with unquestionable effort.
Through the course load of my college career my studies also incorporated normal life span development, personality development, abnormal development, prevention, group behavior, ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy sharing knowledge with others and believe that teaching is beyond memorizing facts. As an educator I attempt to teach students skills to become lifelong learners through fostering an appreciation of knowledge. My teaching style is adaptable to a particular student's needs, but often incorporates the strategy of relating content material to the individual's existing knowledge. As an informal educator I have experience utilizing hands on learning activities to engage my students. I believe these strategies are what allow individuals to actually gain knowledge.

A Little Bit About Me...

I just graduated with a BA in Psychology and are two courses short of a minor in Spanish and Sociology. I've always been very strong in the English/Language Arts/Writing areas as well. I am currently a certified substitute teacher and also already do some elementary tutoring. Some of my previous tutoring experience include writing, some psychological statistics and some basic math/language skills.
I love to teach and help others in general. I always had difficulty when I was younger finding a tutor or some help in my studies that I could understand easily. I am a very patient and have a great sense of humor that come in handy during subjects of frustration. I believe if you can bring a child into their comfort zone and put the directions in the most simple fashion, a child can learn anything! I'd love to turn a subject they avoid into a subject to brag about...

A Little Bit About Me...

I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. I base alot of my instruction on analogies; when a person can relate an experience or another word to a term being tought, their understanding is broadened and 99% of the time embedded in the longterm memory. That to me is not only developing the ability to draw on a built up knowledge base, but also broadens ones ability to convey what has been learned.
I have always wanted to teach. When I was a child I would round up the kids in my neighborhood and make them do lessons that I created. I do remember they did not like that. I went to college and earned a BS in Biology always knowing that I would eventually teach the sciences. I was an excellent student and have always found pride in myself on my ability to communi ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As an Education Director at a Boys & Girls Club, I taught in the non-traditional sense, through after school literature-enhancing programming of various kinds. I instructed K-12 students, and even parents and staff, on many different levels of achievement and ability, so I am very acquainted with diverse populations and accomodating their educational needs through creative tools and approaches.
Since my years as an undergraduate student, one of my passions has always been giving back to the community through tutoring and mentoring. Over the past eleven years, I have tutored countless times, particularly in research paper and essay writing (in various disciplines), literature, and even mathematics. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education and seek to continue giving back in this way!
