I became a published author of game reviews for a computer magazine at age 15. I worked at the University of Pennsylvania in Chemical Engineering under an Army Research Office grant, then as a software developer for the Mechical/Materials Engineering Dept. During college, I was in food service for 5 years, then a Records Clerk in county government. I was Advertising Director and Business Manager for two small, innovative Philadelphia newspapers. I have been a tutor/editor for the Royal Thai Scholars program (government scholarship students) and done private tutoring and editing for approximately 10 years. Teaching and coaching students to excel is a gift, and I was blessed with that gift. I believe in teaching students in the manner in which they learn--whether they are visual, auditory, or a combination of both. I believe in tailoring my teaching style to the particular style that is best suited for the individual student by trying different approaches until finding the approach that is successful. I've always enjoyed the opportunity to explain things I'm familiar with to people who need it explained. That said, I prefer a teaching environment in which the student has the opportunity to discuss the subject, and I like to keep examples practical if at all possible. As an aspiring psychologist, I also understand the value of positive reinforcement for good work, and try to use it whenever I possibly can.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a private tutor for several years. I have tutored in English, Communications, Spanish and some Statistics. I absolutley love it. One of my best clients was making C's and D's in his English classes and was repeating English for the 2nd time when he met me. I was able to help him make A's and B's and he passed with a B+. I also hold a Masters degree in Corporate & Public Communication.
