Guitar is one of my top subjects! I have extensive studies in classical and jazz guitar, as well as musical composition. I performed professionally on guitar, keyboards, and electric bass. I also have an MM degree in music.

When working with students one-on-one, I try to find out exactly where the next step needed for the student to progress would be, and then work to achieve an understanding of the foundational material that needs to be understood and applied to achieve success, and then move on from there.
As a Spanish teacher, I have an MA in Spanish, and have worked as a Spanish teacher at both the secondary and post-secondary levels. I have additionally worked as a Spanish translator and interpreter in the legal, academic, and medical areas. I know the value of knowing more than one language, as I have traveled in many different parts of the world, and have personally experienced the benefits of being able to communicate with people in their own language when travelling.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a writing tutor and learning coordinator at the University of Michigan. I help to insure that student athletes receive a fair education while they are on scholarship. I tutor them on a weekly basis in most subjects but I focus primarily on writing and English. I am a very effective writing tutor both for grammar checking, composition, and essay writing. I have a BA in business management from Michigan State University, so I am very proficient in Econ, Math, computer skills and most business oriented courses. Patience and flexibility are the keys. You can't explain a concept the same way to each student and expect each one will understand. Some students need extra time to grasp the material so it's important not to progress unless there's certainty of complete comprhension. Encouragement is also necessary which will build their confidence, and a confident student is a better one.
My BS in Civil Engineering provided me with an extensive education of advanced Mathematics such as Calculus, Dynamics, Physics, and Statics. I worked for 10 years in the field which included design of subdivisions, site condominiums, and other developments. Correspondence between review engineers on projects required proper writing and grammatical skills. Since October of 2009,I have worked part-time for a Metro Detroit tutoring agency. Subjects include Math, Science, English, and ACT test preparation.
