I find out what exactly the student is lacking in the subject by asking a few basic questions on the topic and make a judgement of the student's understanding on the topic and then proceed forward. I normally explain the concepts in diagrams so that it makes it easier for the student to visualize the problem and give the student plenty of practice problems for him/her to work on to make their understanding better I have taught over 20 students during my undergraduate and graduate study. I have always wanted to teach. While in high school, I spent half of my school day being a teacher's assistance at an elementary school. I started my college experience at Adams State College in the Education department. During my initial years in college, I completed multiple teaching courses including: Intro to Education, Teaching Exceptional Students in a Regular Classroom, and Child Development. I changed degrees to broaden my opportunities but never lost my desire to teach. As a classroom teacher I quickly learned to engage each student individually. I prefer tutoring because I can tailor my instruction to a specific student. Children have different learning styles so it is my responsibility as the instructor to adapt lessons to maximize learning for each child. Ideally I am able to guide a student to realize concepts in their own terms rather then dictate facts to them. I recently completed two years of teaching Physical Science in a secondary school in Namibia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to that I earned a BS in Computer Science which included a mathematics minor and courses in physics and chemistry.
