English and Writing Tutor

I am a senior at the University of Tennessee and am majoring in Architecture. Coming from a background of advanced English classes at Oak Ridge High school, writing and composition is my strong suit. I have tutored an architecture student who was taking a writing intensive essay course on "Theory of Architecture" and helped her sharply improve her weekly grades on papers. Also, during my freshman year in college, my summer reading essay was chosen as one of the top out of thousands of incoming freshmen. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always emphasized the immeasurable distinction between education and schooling. Although the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive, in our era they are more and more. I strive to draw a student into a fascination with learning. If that occurs, then education is a fait accompli.
I taught High School US, World and European history to grades 10 - 12. I taught AP European History and Government. I taught Geography, Civics, and Psychology for 5 years. I have owned my own construction firm for 10 years and worked in manufacturing. My specialty is European History with an emphasis in the classics. Experienced ESL Instructor/Tutor

I have 10 years experience teaching ESL in various settings. Primarily my experience has been in K-12 public schools. However, I have experience in teaching adults and in tutoring adults, as well. My students have varied to professionals seeking to improve English to newly arrived immigrants needing to learn an entire new language.
