I like to teach in whatever way best fits the students. I believe using many different methods is the best way to teach because it helps the student see the lesson in many different ways. Some lessons are best taught with hands on activities where the student can see what is happening and this tends to work best in math and science. In other areas such as reading and writing, using books and creative writing techniques can help strengthen the skills needed. I have been a tutor for 23 years and I have taught Adult Basic Education for 12 years. I am still continuing my education to receive a Masters degree and plan to get my PhD. I work for a community college and have done advising, enrollment, testing, phone directory, and student sevices. I have attended many professional development workshops on education.
Critical thinking skills and untraditional ways are what I focus on. However the way someone learns, I will try to set the individual up to show how they learn and work with them. A new way to learn

I have one class left to finish my BS in Elementary Education. My major is in science so everything I know is new and up to date. I have a nephew who is very intelligent however has a sever reading problem. Through the summer I found ways to break through the barriers and we advanced his reading by a couple of reading levels. I continued to work with him while in school and he is up to his grade level. I have helped many students on my own time to aid them in math, reading and in science.
I use a lot of visual aids to help the students understand the material. I go the extra mile and I am dedicated to using anything I can think of above and beyond their text books.
