I am a recent graduate from the University of Dubuque where I received my Bachelor of Science in k-12 Physical Education and Instructional Strategist 5-12 (Special Education). I graduated from the University of Iowa on May 15, 2010 with a BA in Elementary Education and a reading endorsement. Apart from my area of specialization, reading, I also took seven science courses at the University of Iowa, mainly in chemistry. My volunteer experiences have shaped the person who I am today, as I have completed over one hundred hours of volunteer work in schools and hospitals. Approximately thirty of those hours were spent one-on-one with first graders, helping them on math and reading skills and strategies. I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.

As a graduate student at the University of Maryland, I taught Russian 101 to undergraduate students for two semesters. I also taught Russian 101 at the University of Virginia for two semesters as a teacher’s assistant. I taught English as a Second Language through Black Hawk College for two semesters, and I taught infants and toddlers at Best Beginnings preschool and child care center for 2 years and 5 months. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Russian Language and Literature, a master's degree in Russian Linguistics, a second master's degree in Russian Language and Literature, a certificate in Arabic Language, and an associate's degree in Elementary Education.
