I also see how to apply what I have learned to original problems because I see connections and hold a deeper understanding of the material. I love teaching -- standing in front of a class of students, feeling the pressure of their attention and responsibility for their education -- but I think I enjoy tutoring more. Even when I was teaching a class of twenty-five college freshmen, I tried to move things in that direction, giving my students incentives to come by during my office hours (hard to do with such busy students). I'm currently working on a second Bachelors degree in mathematics, but this time with an emphasis in Actuarial Science. This mixes calculus, algebra, and statistics, along with some business classes, into one, keeping them fresh in my mind. I normally try to find the method that best works with each pupil, then highlight on that. I also make sure not to do the work for the student.
