I have been tutoring math since I was an Algebra I student in the 8th grade. My experience is in basic elementary mathematics, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra II, College Algebra, and Accounting. New concepts that need to be learned often require application of accounting knowledge previously learned. If these earlier concepts are not fully understand, it can lead to confusion causing the student to fall behind. My approach in tutoring the student would be to have the student walk through the process with me and I would identify the possible problem causing the confusion. I believe that each person is an individual and as such needs personalized help. Not everyone learns as the same rate,but given time and the proper reinforcement will learn. Students much be allowed to have a certain freedom to choose likes and strengths as well as weaknesses. We all have them!
