After returning to college to get my teaching certificate I taught 5th grade for one year. I then taught at a high school in Salinas, California for four years. As an elementary teacher I taught all subjects except science. I taught various history and social studies classes to the high school students including World History, honors U.S. History, Psychology and Current Events. I left teaching in 1992 to attend law school but have volunteered as a mentor on several occasions which has allowed me the opportunity to tutor children in both elementary and middle school. The more comfortable a student is with his teacher/tutor, the more interested he becomes in the subject being taught/tutored. Some students need extra help, which I am patient enough to provide; however, some students need a little push, which I am firm enough to provide. In college, I pursued a minor degree in English because of my love of English, reading, and writing. I love to proofread and edit.
