Andrew Rohwedder is an award winning guitarist. He graduated with honors at Arizona State University, studying classical guitar at the Herberger College of Design and the Arts. Andrew began his guitar studies at age 11, and has loved it since been given his first guitar. He has made a commitment to the musical arts, and plans to pursue a career in concert performance. In the meantime, Andrew hopes to help others gain this passion, or help them simply enjoy playing the instrument in their leisure time. My comments on tutoring Guitar : I've been a guitarist for about 5 years.

I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. However, my friends were struggling. They hated me a bit for how easy it came to me. I decided to tutor them and help them with homework assignments and studying. They ended up doing very well on the exams, allowing them to secure a 3.0 or higher in the course. I also had to regular help my classmates out with more complex problems in Physics. I was not so much tutoring as working together with them on the homework, but still, it involved clear explanation and a thorough knowledge of the subject matter.

Towards the end of my college career I assisted in "Community New Start" in Austin, TX which was a mentor program assisting high school children in under-privileged districts. I assisted with basic math and English material. A few months later a group of us from the University of Texas assisted in the "Reagan High School" project, where the district was considering closing the school down due to failing TAKS scores, mainly in reading comprehension and math. This entailed going into classrooms and helping teachers with students needing help in basic math and science tutorials.

I have taught problem solving to many friends and family. I like to explain the foundations of what they're trying to learn and most importantly explain to them why they're learning it. Once this is done, I bring the whole subject together in the end so that they may see what pieces of the puzzle they were missing. In mathematics for example, one may not understand the algebraic portion of integrals but once I explain the geometrical portion, things start to make sense. In mathematics and physics, there's almost always a geometrical picture that a student can think of faster than remembering steps and formulas. I like to use analogies to bring abstract concepts down to earth.
