When I first started college, I had no idea what to major in. I started taking creative writing and literature classes though, and found my niche in English. I enjoy writing, reading, proofreading, checking grammar and punctuation, and find myself reviewing billboards and magazines for errors. I've been able to put these skills to actual use as an instructor, tutor, and advisor for college students. I have taught Business Writing, Business Communication, and Keyboarding classes. I have also had a great deal of experience with public speaking and have played piano for more than 20 years. In the end though, it's a great joy to see a student "get it" and to help them realize their full potential.

At SCSU, I work as a writing consultant at the Writing Center on campus. With students, I help to make them better writers by helping answer questions, presenting questions, working through the brainstorming and paper-writing process, and helping with formatting. As well, I have helped to coordinate our second satellite location, which entails working with people on their schedules, managing conflicts of schedule, and serving as a head of the second location. I have been a piano teacher for 29 years, teaching privately in my home studio. I am insatiable in my pursuit of knowledge, and have wide interests. My first degree in history and philosophy influenced me in how I approached all other fields of study. I am never satisfied with a superficial knowledge of anything I undertake. My experience with other cultures has been a huge influence in how I approach knowledge and how I approach teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching comes easily to me especially with high school and college age students. I highly enjoy accelerated history, critical thinking and exploring the odd details of history. I tend to be a stern teacher with high expectations for students. This being said, I try my hardest to help students comprehend and understand the material being learned.
