I am a stickler for proper sentence structure, grammar, and spelling; I believe that a command of written English can open doors in life which appeared previously to be intractably sealed, and can create either employment or advancement opportunities which might not otherwise have been possible. I completed a BA in English from Union University in 2003. I tutored and proofread for other university students and contributed most of the writing for the yearbook my senior year. I began working in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions upon graduation and have been responsible for editing and revising the recruitment material we mail out each fall. I also worked as a substitute teacher during my time in college. I have not been employed yet just as tutor, but tutoring is a perfect culmination of my skills and love for students. The challenge of teaching is the constant upheaval of technique due to the myriad of personalities and backgrounds which make up the typical classroom. After graduating in 1996, I opened my own tutoring service in Dickson, TN. I tutored individuals from public schools and home school in Math, Reading, and several other subjects needed until 2001. At this time I left Dickson and moved to Clarksville, TN and tutored with A+ Math tutoring intil 2006. Seeing the look and smile on the face of a student that finally grasps a concept, or realizes they have just read on their own for the first time, OH What a Feeling!!! I take each child as their own individual knowing they have their own needs in learning a subject. I teach in several different ways as to ensure the child grasps what they need. I see children today as my future for tomorrow, so helping them and making a difference in their lives will make a difference in mine. I have not forgotten any individual I have helped to this day.
