Being overwhelmed with information that is just not making sense can be frustrating and most teachers don't have the time to give individual attention to each student. Ever student has different needs and I can help them focus on areas they doesn't understand as well as others. I can also show students that studying can be fun. I have teaching and tutoring experience at the high school and college level. I love expanding their minds and sharing my knowledge with them. I will be a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Superior in just a few short weeks with my degree in English and Communications. I enjoy teaching students of all ages, individually or in groups. I find the Socratic method most useful, and with children this translates into making the subject (i.e. German grammar) seem like a puzzle that, with some effort, can be solved. I think students are best served when they can discover these answers for themselves. I have a BA in English and a Master's and Ph.D. in German (Germanic Linguistics). I have taught English literature as a substitute in junior and senior high schools, college level German, linguistics, English reading and writing and English as a Second language. As an undergraduate at the University of Mississippi I was a teaching assistant for a College Skills class and also a year long tutor at Oxford High School in pre-algebra. After graduating from the University of Mississippi I lived in Seoul, South Korea and taught students ages 5-11 English as a Second Language, including math and social studies. Upon returning to the United States I began working on my master's degree in TESL and I've also had the opportunity to teach 3 credit bearing college courses from 2009 to current. I am qualified to tutor pre-calculus and science as I received an associate of science degree where I completed Calculus II, Organic Chemistry and Genetics.
