My style is considered out of the box, meaning that if the standard method does not "click" with him/her, then I enjoy finding something of interest to them, to relate that to the subject at hand. My comments on tutoring Geography : For several years I was the assistant in an Elementary School Geography Club.

I am a "hands-on" approach teacher. Often educators think students are grasping the concept when they are really just hearing, not listening.
I taught from the year 2000-2013 in Gwinnett County Public Schools. 2013-2014 tried Georgia Pre-K; which I enjoyed but was unable to live on the salary. I moved to a charter school and discovered that was not the place for me. I am now in Fulton County and love it. I have had the opportunity to meet amazing staff and students, making my job a pleasure to come to. In the 2015-2016 school year I will be teaching Interrelated Special Education in 4th and 5th grade.

The method of teaching I prefer is maieutic, i.e., one which draws knowledge from the student, rather than attempts to place it in him/her from without. To me, the process of asking questions and allowing the student's curiosity and intelligence to reach conclusions is far more effective than one-sided lecturing.
