During this time spent at Webster University I was hired by the Student Literacy Corps, a non-profit organization funded by the university for the purpose of educating students in the St. Louis Public School District in English and writing. I have wanted to teach students my entire life. I began tutoring when I went to college. There I tutored my peers in composition and literature. As I continued my college career, I had three semesters where I taught grades 7-12. I received my BS in Education in December of 2007 and began teaching high school English at the sophomore level at a local high school. While working there, I got a job offer closer to home and began that in July of 2008. There I taught 9-12 British Literature, College Composition, Creative Writing, American Literature, and Drama. During my junior and senior year in college, I TA’ed a finance class called options pricing for two semesters. Options pricing was a difficult subject. I worked very hard to receive an A- for the course, which turned out to be my favor. I had insight to the intellectual hurdles other students had to overcome to master the material.
