My teach style is different for each pupil. Everyone learns differently and once I get a feel for how they learn easiest, I conform my teaching style accordingly, using personal interests and incentives if progress is made.
I have throughout my entire grade school career been both a tutor and a mentor. As young as in nine years old in fourth grade I was selected to tutor kindergarten children in mathematics. As I grew older, I continually tutored my peers in a multitude of subjects, math being the prominent and my best subject. My students have always appreciated my ability to look at problems and subjects from different angles. I like to use every day metaphors for teaching math problems and also try to teach students how to use a "process of elimination" style. For example, it is easier to identify whether or not an object is a cell phone by picking out one trait that a cell phone has and determining if the object has that trait rather than describing all the traits of the object and then determining if it is a cell phone.

1998 was the my first tutoring experience, I took time from busy school schedule to tutor students in Math and Science at a low income school near my college. After spending time tutoring students in a variety of subjects I decided to go for an education degree once I finished my undergraduate degree. While working towards my Masters degree I spent a semester working in the Seattle Public school as a substitute teachers aid.
