I strongly believe in allowing the student to learn through their own will and with their own techniques, I try to just be the vessel that allows them to get to this point. I have worked in Montessori type schools where learning is a self-discovery and a journey. I have over twenty years of teaching English and French. I have taught middle school language arts to students in grades six through eight, high school students in grades nine through eleven and college English to freshmen and sophomores. As the founder and president of UNCA French club 2008 until 2010 I enjoy helping others with the French language. I am also a member of Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor society's chapter at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. I now hold a bachelor degree from UNCA with a major in French language. This language experience makes me a capable instructor of English as well as French.
I believe that the best way to learn is by repetition and not being afraid to make mistakes. This is especially important in language acquisition as many students are afraid of making pronunciation errors. As a high school student, I was very active in extracurricular activities. I participated in the rotary club, volunteering at local soup kitchens. I was also a member of the Newspaper, Quiz Bowl, Robotics Team, soccer and baseball throughout my high school career.
