An Exceptional Teacher for Exceptional Students!

My teaching style is one of engaging, fun style. I believe that students should love to learn. Students should be allowed to academically express themselves to the teacher. This helps to facilitate learning. Appropriate questioning of the topic gets all students involved in the curriculum. I always help the students to relate to the topic by using prior knowledge. Differentiated instruction is given to all students in a caring, private method.
I am a former Special Education teacher from Bibb County. I taught in a interrelated classroom in both the elementary school level, and the middle school level. I taught reading, math, science, and social studies. I was a cooperative teacher, in which I worked with the general education teacher to assist her in helping our students with special needs. A Little Bit About Me...

During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked with parents when I owned/operated my private daycare. I have since then worked with children in low poverty communities in Atlanta Georgia, in order to provide an alternative method to learning to ensure that children receive the appropriate level of understanding of various subjects.
What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education ... read more

More About This Tutor...

As an Undergraduate student, I was engaged in a variety of eduactional settings from Substitute Teaching and working with students with disabilities to tutoring Kindergarteners in an Elementary school with reading, writing, and math. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, a degree that has afforded me the opportuity to learn much about communication and literacy, but also much about the educational system. Having worked in two different school districs and a summer camp for children with disabilities as an academic counselor has taught me alot about how children learn.
I believe in each and every child as an individual, they are not just a number, name, or student; they are individuals with personality and unique abilities to learn in their own way. No two people learn the exact same way, and I am a dedicated and patient person who loves working ... read more
