A Little Bit About Me...

As both a teacher and a counselor I have worked to develop a teaching style that is student focused. In order to do that I want to inspire and challenge the student to reveal their abilities and interests and track them as they develop. The student and I will set specific goal areas with attainable steps, so that we can both check the progress. With a thorough knowledge of the material along with good organization, the process of learning can be creative and lively for both the student and the teacher.
After high school I achieved a BS from George Peabody College for teacher, however did not teach for money until many years later after I received my MS. I love helping people, particularly children, reach their full potential by becoming life-long learners. Whenever I meet with a student, whether it be one-on-oe or in the classroom, I strive to identify his/her learning style and to create a connection to the lesson to his/her future experiences in the world beyond the classroom. I believe that education is the key to creating citizens with a sense of self-efficacy and a belief that one man or woman can make a differnce.
While earning my MA in English, I spent two years tutoring students in English and training/mentoring other tutors. For the last two years, I have been designing and delivering trianing curriculum.
