As a teacher trainer for the past 7 years, I have taught teachers research based instructional strategies to help struggling learners as well as applied these concepts in my own classroom. Although I primarily caught art during my 17 year career, I also was interested in ways to help students learn reading skills. I was a volunteer tutor in the 1997-98 school year for a program called Reading Rescue that used research based strategies to help below grade level readers, taught remedial summer school program one summer, and have many in service hours of CRISS training.
I believe all students can learn but some need explicit strategies to be shown to them. Upon graduation and then moving to Florida, I taught environmental science to students and adults of all ages and abilities as forester for Levy county. Currently, I am enrolled in a second Bachelor's degree in psychology.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a student at Rollins College, I had the opportunity to serve as a peer mentor to a group of first-year students. I also worked in the writing center and as an editor for a literary journal. My studies in anthropology and experience writing an honors thesis on homelessness taught me to think critically and holistically. I dont have a lot of experience with teaching children in a classroom environment, but I have a 5 year old, that I have to constantly teach different things besides what he learns at school.I have experience training physicians in a complex electronic medical records environment. I had so much fun with this project at the facility I worked with. For me teaching and or training is always exciting, it lets me pass on what I already know, and making sure that the student can learn the most of the experience.
