I have always been a curious person and even as an adult I enjoy learning. As a result, I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with others. As a teacher, I am encouraging, supportive, and patient. I think it is very important to tailor teaching methods to the individual student because people learn in different ways. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all education, and I like to use my creativity in lessons to help keep learning interesting.
I earned my BA in German with a minor in music. My interest in the German language began as a child when my mother took a military assignment to Germany. In addition to the three years I lived there with my family, I completed a study abroad session during college and returned two years later as a Fulbright grantee to teach English in a German school. As a young musician, I began playing violin at the age of 9 and at the age of 14, I began learning piano. By age 15 I toured Austria and Germany with my high school orchestra and by age 16 I had composed my first symphony entitled Seven Emotions. At age 17, I performed at Carnegie Hall and went on to tour in Italy, again on invitational with my high school orchestra. In addition to this, I have a 1.5 years experience as a private music instructor as well as a BS in Music Business and Recording Arts.
I have always loved teaching children the skills to become a musician. Playing music can inspire children to be creative and expressive.
