I am currently a part-time Anatomy instructor at both NWTC and UWGB where I have taught since the Fall of 2004. I have taught several types of Anatomy & Health Science classes over the past six years. I also actively work part-time in the healthcare field as a chiropractor where I own and operate my own clinic in Green Bay. I graduated from California State University at San Francisco. While there I mastered my major of accounting as well as my minor in economics. I have over ten years' experience in all facets of accounting, audit and taxation. I have always been an exceptional mathematics student and my chosen field has enabled me to remain very strong in this area. For the past four summers I have worked in a childcare setting. Last summer I did an internship at a Headstart and the previous three summers I worked at a daycare. At both places I worked with children of all ages. In May of 2010 I graduated from UW Green Bay with a degree in Human Development and Psychology. I plan on getting certified in Child Life. My favorite jobs that I have had dealt with working with children. I love working with children and making a difference in their lives. When training employees, my teaching style has always been to learn by doing. I believe that people do best in learning a new task when one explains the task before doing, then shows how to do the task while explaining, and then asks the trainee to do the task with guidance. The same goes for teaching an academic subject - explain how it is done, show a couple of examples while explaining, and then ask them to try with guidance. I believe that applications to everyday life should be stressed if a tutor/teacher is to pique the interest of their student(s). Rather than stressing rote memorization, I believe it is more important to relate overall concepts in a "partnering" style. It is important to remember that one of the cornerstones of teaching is making the subject matter interesting and relevant to the student's experiences. I believe it is also important to focus on a student's strengths rather than their weaknesses. As in many areas of life, teaching also requires patience.
