Within my classroom and tutoring sessions, I make sure the student(s) know exactly what I expect from them, which is primarly for them to try their hardest. More About This Tutor...

My approach to tutoring is to try to be as hands-off as possible. By this I mean that I will not "fix" papers, nor will I write directly on a student's paper if it can be helped. I want to help the student in their problem areas by showing them examples of an area (thesis statement, grammar, citations)that needs improvement and then working with them so that they will know how to address the problem in the future. I also find that often tutors do their best work while acting as "sounding-boards" for their students; listening to the student (as each student has different needs)and then offering suggestions and ideas on how to approach difficulties.

In my experience, a person needs to be confident in him/herself in order to succeed. Learning of scholastic material is two fold: personal and academic development. By understanding the manner in which the student comprehends new information, we then can build upon their foundation by removing the frustration and replacing it with confidence that will extend into their personal life as well.
As a bilingual, internationally traveled persona, I have tutored students of all ages. From 1999-2003, I have served as a third grade Teacher's Aide focusing on on reading, memorization and basic math tutoring. Since 1999, I also have tutored middle, high school, and college students in pre-algebra, algebra, geography, computer skills, writing, and grammar. I love to teach and have a passion for working with students with disabilities. I believe all children can learn, but many have their own individual learning style.
