After graduating from Clyde High school, I went on to Ohio State Mansfield, where I majored in psychology and special education. I am currently a full time student at Ashford University online. While pursuing my BA accounting and BA in business finance at Wilmington College, I was very involved in tutoring other students at the college. At Wilmington College, we had supplemental instruction which is basically a group tutoring session where the leader is chosen by the professor teaching the course. I was a supplemental instructor for five (5) different courses and I was also an individual tutor for the five supplemental instruction classes along with two (2) other courses. I knew after taking a couple of courses when I went back to graduate school in 2003 that I wanted to go into teaching, at least on a part time basis. My daughter is an elementary school teacher, and I felt that I had an influence on her choice of a major. I enjoy seeing students learn. The entire time of seeing them with their first class in accounting until their last class is a fun ride for me. Just seeing their increase in their level of knowledge is a wonderful feeling. The best part of my year is graduation day, when I see students that I taught at least once class graduate. When possible, I try to use examples that are more relevant to helping the student understand. While I am driven and have done very well in school, some students do not have an aptitude for accounting and may only be taking it for their major.
