As a Union University graduate, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Finance with a minor in Mathematics after studying for a year as a Pre-Med Chemistry major, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. I have also been a free lance writer for several years and have published magazine articles. Through my education and work experience I have developed marketable writing skills and can tutor others in grammar, composition, and literature. I have tutored in all subjects, including math, through grade 6 as well.
I have a laid-back teaching style and do not like to put pressure on students who are striving to their best. I enjoy building students' confidence and developing them to their potential. I feel that I can relate to children because I am also a child at heart. I believe in constant verbal quizzing and repitition as a means to develop the child's ability to retain knowledge and call it forth at will. I have learned from past work experiences that all people learn differently be it either visual, kinetic (hands-on), or verbal (by listening). By learning the child's learning type you can tell which method appeals to them and can create a learning environment to encourage their growth at a faster rate. I also have a history in the theatrical arts and vocal music performance which can assist in grasping the child's attention during those times of relaxed focus. Lastly, I feel that positive encouragment is key to building confidence and trust in those students with lowered self esteem.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am also a poet and an inspirational and motivational speaker. I have written poems for my coworkers for twenty years at my employer. I would say that my style of teaching is creative. I stress the fundamentals, making sure of the foundation, but remain creative in the approach that reaches the student. For example, I made music videos to explain International Standards Organization 9001 principles for my audit students. My techniques have been very well received! Learning is fun! I make it so!
