Because I have been teaching since the 1970s, I have extensive experience in several teaching styles and have a creative sensibility. I prefer to assess the student before making a determination as to the choice of learning strategies. I work well in a one-on-one approach. I am a retired college English professor who taught several college transfer courses at the community college level. I also worked as a tutor for several years at the college. Tutoring differs from teaching in that "style" is replaced by method. Some of the methods I have used in the past are rhythm and music, neumonic devices, and of course, drill and practice.
