As a recent fall 2009 graduate, it is my goal to become an educator and help other students learn the concepts behind mathematics. I want students to understand that math is not a scary subject and that you can enjoy this field area. In the past, I have tutored/volunteered in the following areas of mathematics: Basic math. College Algebra, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Discrete math, and Pre-Calculus. I am always helping someone on the side. Whether it is one question or an entire assignment, it is my pleasure to share my intellect with someone else.
I feel that everyone has the potential to learn and retain the materials that are presented to them in the schools. Sometimes you just need someone to further explain the topic at hand. I do not believe in "giving" away answers. I am willing to explain and reteach a topic until the student fully understands what they are doing. Patience, ho ... read more

My teaching style is very hands on and adaptive. Accounting is one of those subjects that is difficult for most students, so I adapt my style to each student. My past students have been at the bachelor’s, masters, and the professional level. I feel what sets me apart from other tutors is my real world experience. When a tutor can apply accounting principles to the real world, it is easier for the student to comprehend. I feel it is imperative to go beyond standard textbook terms and problems. An efficient and proficient tutor ensures that their client understands as well as comprehend.
I am currently an accounting manager with a national real estate development company. I also am a partner in a local bookkeeping and tax preparation firm. I tailor my teaching style to the student. Throughout the years I have recognized that each student has a different way of learning and I make it my goal to adapt to them, to try to reach them in a way that is most effective for the individual. I have a strong sense of academic excellence and try to instill the core values of diligence, focus, and perseverance on each student. I also try to make learning enjoyable by providing real world examples and reasons for why we need to learn what we are required to learn. Even though my educational background is in science and math, I place significant emphasis on the importance of having good English grammar, writing, and reading skills and being generally well-rounded academically.
