I have found ways to connect almost any subject matter from physics to algebra to chemistry nomenclature into something one already knows. If one uses long term memory pegs one can "file" things in memory and recall with very little effort.

I make it my goal to find out as much as I can about the students, and then put them in those environments in an imaginative way in some sort of math problem.
