My first two years of teaching were as an intern with the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools. I taught 8th grade Math full time at a large public middle school. The next year I continued the same position and added on an after school tutoring program for all grade levels. I then took a position teaching 6,7&8 grade Math at an alternative school for students with severe discipline issues. This was a small setting with classes no larger than 12. My style of teaching, especially with tutoring, is to find out what kind of learner my student is: tacit, oral, or verbal. After completing my degree in 2007 at the University of New Mexico, I moved to Denver, CO and taught for one year at Morey Middle School. Since the school is only 5 blocks from the Capitol building and a multitude of museums and libraries, I was able to tutor a few students from the school in a real-world environment.
