I am a very patient person. I tutored special needs students in the summer in a variety of subjects. I also taught piano lessons to several students of my own while attending school. While I was in college I was the chemistry lab assistant and lab tutor. I set-up and conducted the labs the teacher had planned, and I helped the students with their homework. As a summa cum luade graduate with a B.A in nursing, I strive for a high level of excellence in myself, and I really enjoy helping others reach their potential as well.

After retiring from the Navy I went to work in the school system as a security assistant. After one year I resigned and went to Norfolk State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major concentration in Learning Disabled and a minor in Emotionally Disturbed. Ten years later I earned a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. I have been a Special Education Teacher for the past 16 years teaching in the Virginia Beach City Schools. A Little Bit About Me...

As a gradute of the College of Creative Arts at West Virginia University, I was given the opportunity to learn and experience all aspects of the music education program. I earned my bachelor degree in Music Education and taught private lessons for a part time job to help put myself through school. I am currently in my fifth year of teaching and have experience in general music and middle school band. I love working with kids of all ages and enjoy the process as much as the final outcome.
I love teaching and working with all children. I am a firm believer that all children learn differently and, as an educator it is my job to adapt to your child's style of learning. I have worked with children of all different ages and backgrounds; and found that they key to working across the demographic is patience, compassion and a willingness to learn.
